Parking
There is NO parking on ANY street or rights-of-way in the Town of Southern Shores unless otherwise posted.
Designated parking areas are divided into three groups:
- Town parking areas
- Southern Shores Civic Association parking lots
- Chicahauk Homeowners parking lots
Parking in the Town owned parking areas is permitted with a town parking permit sticker (as shown below). Who is eligible for a sticker? Property owners and year round residents of the Town of Southern Shores, as well as dependant children are eligible for parking permit stickers. The permits may be obtained from the Southern Shores Town Hall. There is no fee; however, you must provide proof of eligibility via driver's license, water bill, property deed, etc. The permit application is available on-line and must be submitted to the Southern Shores Town Hall during normal business hours. You may also obtain the permit via mail by filling out the required information and mailing it to the Southern Shores Town Hall, 5375 N. Virginia Dare Trail, Southern Shores, NC 27949, along with a self addressed envelope.

If you are having a special events and need cars to park on town street you can apply for a Special Events encroachment agreement.

Failure to display the proper parking permit will result in the issuance of a parking ticket with a $50 fine.
Member and guest parking passes which are issued by the Chicahauk Property Owner’s Association and the Southern Shores Civic Association are NOT VALID FOR PARKING ON TOWN STREETS, RIGHTS-OF-WAY AND THE TOWN PARKING LOT ON CHICAHAUK TRAIL. They are for parking in private parking areas only. Maps displaying these parking areas are available at the Southern Shores Town Hall.
